Acerinox has received the platinum medal from Ecovadis, the highest score awarded by the rating platform for evaluating Corporate Social Responsibility.

The score received by the Group places Acerinox among the top 1% of the best rated companies out of the more than 100,000 businesses from 200 countries assessed globally in the areas of environmental protection, human rights and responsible purchasing. This recognition demonstrates the Group’s progress in sustainability matters, improving from gold level to platinum.

This is a magnificent achievement that highlights the commitment made by the Acerinox Group in the development of its Corporate Social Responsibility management and its continuous growth as a benchmark in the sector, especially in the assessed areas.

The most noteworthy progress made in the specific area of supply chain includes the recent approval of a Code of Ethics for Providers, which is shared with business partners working with the company, and the definition of a specific system for assessing ESG aspects, paying special attention to risks. The Acerinox Group is committed to the ongoing improvement of its performance in this area, reducing risks and identifying opportunities that facilitate the prioritisation of initiatives towards a more sustainable management.

The Chief Executive Officer, Bernardo Velázquez, congratulated the Acerinox team for this achievement, highlighting that “this has been the result of the effort and collaboration between the different areas of the business. This recognition encourages us to continue growing in the field of sustainability and reaffirm the pillars of our sustainability strategy 'Acerinox Positive Impact 360': ethical governance, eco-efficiency, circular economy, committed team and supply chain".

Furthermore, Acerinox is making progress in the three areas of Sustainability: Environmental, Social and Good Governance.

With regard to the Environment, the Group continues to implement its commitment to the Science Based Targets (SBTi), and to the development of the carbon footprint calculation throughout our supply chain.

With regard to Social, worthy of note is the improvement of our Equality and Health and Safety at Work policies, which apply to all those who work at our facilities, regardless of whether they are part of the Group. Acerinox also supports the development and promotion of diversity and equality through specific Human Resources programmes.

Regarding Good Governance, over the last year, Acerinox has approved a total of eight general policies aimed at specific Sustainability matters, establishing the regulatory framework within which the Group’s activities in this area are carried out.
